Mock Local Elections 2016

Mock Local Elections 2016

Applications for our Mock Local Elections is now open!

After the success of our Mock Election 2015, which ran alongside the General Election, our Year 10s are invited to apply to become one of our ten Mock Local Election candidates for 2016 which will run alongside the local Council elections in Oldham. During assemblies all this week (Monday 7th-Friday 11th December), we have been raising awareness about local government and community issues and officially opened our Mock Local Elections to the 14 and 15 year olds students, with some Year 8 students already visiting the local Council Chambers of Oldham Council.

The closing date for applicants is Wednesday 16th December, with shortlisted candidates being notified the following day on Thursday 17th. All shortlisted candidates will be booked onto a trip to visit The Houses of Parliament, London, in February.

Please feel free to view our promotional video which was shown to students during assemblies.  We expect even more enthusiasm for the British Values of Democracy this time around.
