On Thursday 20th October 2016, The Hathershaw College celebrated the success of their students at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in Oldham town centre at their annual Prize Presentation Evening.

Family, friends and staff watched on as the students went up on stage and were presented with awards from special guests including the Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Oldham and Olympic Gold medallist Nicola White, who won Gold at the 2016 Rio Olympics with the women's Field Hockey team, who had some very inspirational words for our award winners.

Lead by our very own MC Raza, 364 students were rewarded for their hard work, attendance and excellence on the night, from all of the previous school year groups (current Year 8 -11 and last years' school leavers). Amongst the main prize winners for each faculty we had our usual Special Honours Awards, results as per below;

  • Roshni Panchani Art Award: Ambreen Hussain
  • Girls Sports College Award: Leonie Dalloway
  • Boys Sports College Award: Tomi Akingbehin
  • Technology Award for Food Technology: Aaliyah Nadeem
  • Technology Award for Product Design: Grace Marks
  • Technology Award for Textiles: Moni Khanom
  • Oldham 6th Form College Prize for Exceptional Work: Daud Malik
  • Outstanding Results: Saqib Mohammed
  • Oldham College Prize: Oliver Aspin
  • Nigel Marland Award for Endeavour: Luke Machin
  • Colin Bell Vocational Award: Keenan Johnstone
  • Ron Scholes Science Award: Shohan Rahman
  • Hasan Umar Award for Courage Through Adversity: Abigale Wheeler

There was plenty to celebrate from the previous academic year, with the College’s grading of 'Good' from Ofsted highlighting the hard work and positive attitude of both staff and students along with our best ever Exam Results.
